The thesis reviews the development of interpreting as a subject of scientificstudy and the history of Interpreting study in China and Western countries. After that,the author introduces Interpreters’ Subjectivity in a more detailed description and ain-depth analysis that can reflect the importance of Interpreters’ Subjectivity in theprocess of Interpreting Practice.Based on that, the author conducts a case study on current Interpreting TeachingSituation in China. The case study is about students of MTI(Masters of Translationand Interpreting) in a prestigious foreign languages university in China. Through thecase study on Interpreting Teaching curriculum and feedbacks from MTI students, theadvantages and disadvantages of current Interpreting Teaching are perceivable.Especially the defects existing in training Interpreters’ extra-linguistic know-how. Byanalyzing the case study, the author introduces main format of Interpreting Teachingin China. Based on relative theories and practices, the author, by taking Interpreter’sSubjectivity as the entry point, clarifies the existing problems in Interpreting Teachingand provides with practical solutions to the problems.In conclusion, the author points out that the training of qualified interpretersdepends largely on the quality of Interpreting Teaching, especially in the MTIcultivation phase. More energy must be put into the setbacks exposed in the case study,which refers to the lacking of extra-linguistic skills and techniques. This also reflectsa comprehensive Interpreting Teaching reform is the trend to come. Therefore,Interpreting Teachers should continue to strengthen theoretical study as well asnon-linguistic skills so as to have a comprehensive understanding. Combined with theexperience of Interpreting practices, teachers can further impart feasible skills andtechniques to students. All these promise the Interpreting Teaching in China a brightfuture.
