Rhyme study of Chuci plays a crucial role in the study of Chuci. Since theresearch about ancient phonology bloomed in Qing Dynasty, it also marked a peak inrhyme related research history. And basically all rhyme researches conducted by Qingresearchers are based on large numbers of Chuci related literatures, which are availableas explanation on pronunciation existing in researches, or numbers of monographsspecifically on rhyme. In this thesis, I summarize the phonetic theories about ancient phonology proposed byQing researchers such as Gu Yanwu, Jiang Yong, Dai Zhen, Duan Yucai, KongGuangsen, Wang Niansun and Jiang Yougao. Combining this summary with some othercurrent related researches, through utilizing the methodology of integrating study onword, pronunciation and exegesis, and the study on edition, content and collation, Ipropose three reasons for the loss of rhyme based on the inspection on23spots wherethe loss of rhyme exists in Qufu and Songfu from current version of Chuci. To start with, since the long history, errors were made during dissemination in theform of word of mouth, transcribing and printing. Furthermore, misunderstandings insentence punctuation gave birth to the loss of rhyme. And finally, because the accent ofChu differs from Central Plains, it is inevitable that the loss of rhyme occurred, due tofact that the ancient pronunciation is generalized from the Central Plains classicliteratures, such as The Book of Songs.Researchers in Qing Dynasty did significant works in the field of rhyme study ofChuci. And their research findings are closely related to the academic development andevolvement of Qing Dynasty.
