A Report On The Translation Of English Economic News

Nowadays with the growth of economic globalization China’s economic interaction with theworld economy is becoming closer than ever before and more and more Chinese people becomeinterested in the international economic news. Since more than80%of the world news is writtenand diffused in English, English economic news and the translation of them accordingly becomea focus of study for many scholars and researchers. Based on the economic news from TheEconomist, the translation report analyzes the features of English economic news and discussesthe translation methods that can be used in translating English economic news.The present paper, based on translating economic news in2013from the website of TheEconomist, makes an analysis of economic news in the aspects of vocabulary, sentence andrhetorical devices and summarizes the difficulties of the translation project and my reflections.This translation project aims at applying translation theory and translation methods or skills theauthor has learned as a graduate student to practical translation in order to understand translationtheory more profoundly, work towards the formation of better translation habits and improve thetranslation competence through the coordination of theory and practice.This report is divided into four parts. The first part generalizes the source and content oftranslation text; the second part describes detailed translation process, consisting of preparation,translation and proofreading; the third part is the analysis of translation text in the aspects ofvocabulary, sentence and rhetorical devices; the fourth part is the conclusion.
