The development of meteorological science and technology has a very broad and far-reachingimpact to the production and life of human society. From the beginning of the Shang Dynasty, China hadalready been recorded on the spread of meteorological observations, then after a thousand years ofdevelopment and change, the establishment of Astronomical elephant and other official institutions andprivate weather weather proverbs experience represented by the traditional meteorological Science andTechnology system. However, due to lack of scale settings and elephant official agency personnel,observation of meteorological always stay in the calendar timing stage, and weather forecast functions havethe experience and the lack of civil meteorological highly abstract theoretical summary, resulting fromastronomy, meteorology has failed independent.To the seventeenth century, due to the arrival of Western missionaries, Chinese traditionalmeteorological science and technology first came into contact with the West meteorological knowledge,and quickly accepted and absorbed some of these content. But as the times caught, then the East-Westexchange of meteorological and its outcome is still less did not produce enough broad impact on society.The late Qing period was another important meteorological knowledge of Western and traditionalChinese meteorological science and technology exchanges occurred. Western meteorological knowledge ofthis period have been out of the scope of experience as an independent natural science categories rose to theheight of modern meteorology. With the introduction of modern meteorology and powers graduallyopening force people to conquer the ideology of oppression, the specific performance of the Western wayof natural science works in the translation, dissemination and powers established by missionaries ormeteorological observation stations. Modern meteorological science and technology in China’sdevelopment and dissemination of the late Qing Dynasty inevitably occurred profound impact, in particularin: promoting the creation of the modern Chinese meteorology; promoting agricultural improvements madeconsiderable achievements; effectively provide maritime cyclone disaster protection services.In late Qing Dynasty the development of meteorological science and technology also provideimportant enlightenment to us today, that is: our academic research, and social construction, must alwayspay attention to international exchanges and learn from each other; Must pay attention to the reform of thesystem of education and talent cultivation; The development of science and technology must always pay attention to the needs of society, provide the required services to the public.
