This is a translation report on When Things Fell Apart:State Failure in Late-Century Africa written by Robert H. Bates, who is a famous political scientist working on Africa. The author gives a vivid analysis of the reasons for civil conflicts, violence and state failure in late-century Africa. While this translation project report contains four parts. The first is a description of the translation project, which includes project background, objectives and its significance. The second is background information of the original book:its author, main content and the characteristics of its language. The third part is a description of the translation process and translation difficulties, covering preparations for the translation project, case analyses, and translation theories and methods adopted in the translation process. The last is a conclusion of knowledge and thinking acquired in this project and sums up what to do to qualify ourselves for modern translation projects. |
