| Because of its unique charm, Basketball attracts more and more fans, andrapidly developing in all parts of the world. As a result, more and more internationalsport events are held in China. With attendance of foreign coaches and players,basketball team-assigned interpreter emerges as the times require. But there are fewreports about Basketball team-assigned translation so far as well as the study about it.So analysis and summary of this project is not only providing the other interpreters areference example, but also can enrich information in the field of basketball team-assigned translation.2013Chinese Olympic Men’s Four Countries Basketball Challenge was hostedby Jixi Municipal Sports Bureau, which was the highest international sports events inJixi. In this project, as one of Translation Group leaders, the author participated andtranslated the work of Reception Manuals, Menus, Welcome Banquet, OpeningCeremony, Closing Ceremony, team-assigned interpreting, etc., among whichReception Manuals, Menus, Welcome Banquet and Opening Ceremony, ClosingCeremony were Chinese-English translation service, and team-assigned interpretinginvolved both. The author sustains that market of Basketball team-assignedtranslation has promising prospect and broad space for the needs of society, butrelevant domestic data are scarce. Drawing on research results related tosimultaneous interpretation, at the same time interjecting the author’s own opinions,the author analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the related information toresearch translation forms and their translation strategies of Basketball team-assignedtranslation. The author focuses on the discussion of preparation, multimodaltranslation forms and their translation strategies, difficulties in the practice and theirsolutions, which contains Black English audition problems, a variety of situationsand during practice. The author hopes to offer reference for other interpreters thatfollowed through this report. |
