This is a translation project report for the5th、6th and7th chapter of Garrets andPretenders: A History of Bohemianism in America, a biography of some famous AmericanBohemians, by Albert Parry. These three chapters involved are about the famousbohemians in America,including Whistler、Henry Harland、O’Reilly and Wilde, andBohemians in Boston. This project consists of four chapters:1) Brief ProjectIntroduction, consisting of the background of the project, introduction to the source text,orientation of the source text’s style.2) The guiding significance of FunctionalEquivalence Theory in English-Chinese translation.3) Translation cases, including withthe guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory, how to apply amplification, conversion ofpart of speech and division and combination to English-Chinese translation, as well ashow to translate complex sentences and poems by examples,4) Conclusion, includingthe experiences from the project, and lessons from the project. |
