| This is a translation project report for the5thã€6th and7th chapter of Garrets andPretenders: A History of Bohemianism in America, a biography of some famous AmericanBohemians, by Albert Parry. These three chapters involved are about the famousbohemians in America,including Whistlerã€Henry Harlandã€O’Reilly and Wilde, andBohemians in Boston. This project consists of four chapters:1) Brief ProjectIntroduction, consisting of the background of the project, introduction to the source text,orientation of the source text’s style.2) The guiding significance of FunctionalEquivalence Theory in English-Chinese translation.3) Translation cases, including withthe guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory, how to apply amplification, conversion ofpart of speech and division and combination to English-Chinese translation, as well ashow to translate complex sentences and poems by examples,4) Conclusion, includingthe experiences from the project, and lessons from the project. |
