The curriculum about Theories of Composition Techniques in Chinafollowed the developing trace of the music in last century. In general,it was designed by reference to the curriculum model of Western countries.Therefore, this curriculum was a production of the passage of the historyand proved its historical vitality. During the following one hundred yearsdevelopment, the musical curriculum provision in colleges anduniversities as well as the academic research capacity has beenconstructed gradually, which at the same time drove the research of nativenational folk music ahead. Hence, the deficiency of the traditionaltheoretical course of composition has been revealed. For one thing, theway which was used to train students no longer suit the requirement tocompose music of different national and geographical elements. Foranother, the adoption of these skills was not able to fully showcasefeatures of culture and accumulation of connotation in either composingmusic or performing. As a consequence, our country has developed a newteaching route in line with our national situation.This new route contains skills applied in composing music and drama,skills applied in composing traditional instrumental music, folk musicinstrument and so on. Therefore, there is already a big expansion on thenotion of composing music theory. It is of great significance to breakthe limitation of four main instruments, and to integrate theses four maininstruments into native culture and improve teaching efficiency. With theconstant change of modern technology, commercial pattern and aestheticperspectives, the teaching of Theories of Composition Techniques needsspecific training and practice according to different situations. The improvement on composition techniques among musical teachers fromdifferent majors is the basic route to grasp the idea and the style ofmusic pieces. By this way, the variety of teaching contents, teachingdesigns, teaching approaches and teaching media can be enriched, theteaching effect can be elevated, and self-study efficiency can beincreased.To probe into the significance and role of composing music theory,as well as the reform of its traditional pattern, teacher quality,teaching method and teaching content is significant to improve the qualityof current musical teachers.
