From the late Qing Dynasty to the republic of China is an important historical period toHainan. Haikou was opened as trade port, Hainan begin to enter the western invaders sphereof influence. Based on the above background, some foreigners began to carry out investigateactivities in Hainan. There are mainly three types of inspectors who focus on Hainan:Christian missionaries, western scholars and Japanese. The purpose and objective of theirstudy are based on their own interest investigate and research Hainan. They left behind booksabout Hainan Island. The Christian missionaries keen on more people believe Christianthrough medical treatment and education. The western scholars cared about Hainan’s creaturesand their living environment. While the Japanese covet Hainan’s precious natural resources.This essay takes Christian missionaries, western scholars and Japanese as the subject of study,analysis their point view of Hainan island.
