The new HSK (level V) is a language skills exam for junior grade students. It consists of three tests categories:listening, reading and writing among them, listening and reading tests retain the old HSK (level V) question style, while the writing is a new item added into HSK(level V). In the writing test, Thai students will make vocabulary errors due to the negative language transfer, target language effect, learning strategies and other factors. These would lower their pass rates of HSK (level V). Therefore, this paper will come up with teaching strategies and learning strategies through the summary and analysis of the vocabulary errors made by Thai students in HSK level-five annual tests and simulation tests in order to reduce the vocabulary errors so that the Thai students may pass the exam more easily. This paper is divided into six sections. The chapter one, the introduction, this section provided information on the research background, significance and value, states the material sources, research subjects and methods. The chapter two illustrated the theoretical basis of the paper and reviews the relevant research about vocabulary mistakes both Chinese and foreign will probably make in the new HSK. The chapter three summarized the new HSK (level V) writing part and vocabulary distribution. The chapter four summarized and analyzed the type of biased errors in four categories:the lexical category errors, the speech errors, collocation errors and calque errors, which was under the guidance of the theoretical basis. The chapter five dropped a cause analysis on bias arising from the students’vocabulary which indicates that negative migration of mother tongue, that negative migration of the target language, teaching influence and learners themselves are the four factors. The chapter six studied respectively from the teaching strategies, learning strategies, writing strategies in three areas and put forward countermeasures based on Thai students’biased error. The chapter seven is the conclusion and summary of the former six chapters.
