As we all know, book is one of the types of information media, which is a spiritual product, at the same time it is also a kind of commodity. Book binding design task is to design the structure of the material carrier and form. Due to the relation of books and the language, literature, writing, art, science and technology development, as buildings and clothing design, book design is also affected by modern material conditions and abundance of spiritual life and directly influence the national culture concept. In a certain period of time, there is always a popular visual aesthetic tendency. This tendency develops and changes by the specific era background, religious belief, customs, social behavior, and times. In addition to the visual aesthetic feeling and convey the sense, book binding design is interact with people’s visual psychology. The color, shape, material and so on, in many aspects, stimulate people’s visual, affect people’s psychological. This universal visual aesthetic tendency is the visual psychology.This paper starts from the basic knowledge of visual psychology and books design, expounds the related theory knowledge, and analyses the visual psychology and book design, as well as the concrete embodiment of visual psychology in books design. On the basis of the relationship with books design and visual psychology, and how should we create more outstanding effect for book design under the guidance of visual psychology.
