Direct and mutual interpretation is a special method, in ShuoWenJieZi, it is notonly has prominent forms, but contains a wealth of phonological relations. Applyingthe theory and method of etymology, this dissertation use匮、匵、匣as an examplewhich are from匚Section of ShuoWenJieZi, analysize the phonological relationsamong the three words, and then expound the phonological relations into the study ofShuoWenJieZi and ancient Chinese. This dissertation consists five parts.The preface introduces briefly the concept of direct and mutual interpretationwords and research status, and illustrates the specific research methods.In the first and second chapter, it is based on the words belonging to微、物、文、侯、屋、东、叶、谈as the basic material, we apply the semantic components analysisand mutual-proving parallelism method to study their phonological relations in thewhole environment. That diveds two aspects: the study of phonological links betweenapical occlusive and velar、glottal, and the study of phonological links among微、物、文、侯、屋、东、叶、谈. Giving a sound transform of cognate examples, to prove匮、匵、匣are cognate words. Direct and mutual interpretation is based on their closerelationship between phonology and sense.The third chapter elaborates deeperly, reveals ShuoWenJieZi compilation stylefrom the angle of phonology, and apply the phonological relations of direct andmutual interpretation into semantics and philology.Finally, there is a conclusion of the study, and personal opinion about theoperating method of direct and mutual interpretation.
