As a practice report on English to Chinese consecutive interpreting of a lecture with PPT,this thesis describes one task conducted by the author in a symposium on “New Media andTurn of Contemporary Literary Theory” in2012. The focus of this thesis is on the variouspotential problems in the interpreting process of a lecture with PPT and correspondingstrategies to deal with them.The case analysis chosen in this thesis refers to three representative translation key pointsand difficult points in the interpreting task, namely, the interpreting of paragraphs with PPT,the interpreting of sentences with the word “for example”, and the interpreting of longparagraphs. The interpreting process has been finished under the instruction of the interpretingtheory of “deverbalization” and has been analyzed in details to present a good example forsimilar translation factors.The author makes a summary and analysis in the conclusion of various advantages anddisadvantages of CI of lectures with PPT. The principle of “grasping the key link” and thesignificance of interpretation theory are specifically pointed out. The author hopes such apractice report on English-Chinese CI of lectures with PPT can provide specific reference forfellow interpreters on similar interpreting task and tasks of other models.
