This thesis is an interpreting practice report,which is about the consecutive interpretation the author had for a historical speech.The theme of this speech is"What is China",since the speech has some historical knowledge involved,it is rather professional in both the theme and content.After the interpreting task,the author conducted studying on the consecutive interpreting practice,under the guidance of deverbalization from interpretive theory.With analyzing of the problems encountered in the interpreting practice,the author put forward some corresponding strategies regarding deverbalization.At first,the author presented the theoretical basis which is deverbalization,discussed the feasibility of deverbalization in consecutive interpreting,and also listed some improper interpreting examples due to the lack of deverbalization from the perspective of language diversities and the characteristics of consecutive interpreting.Then based on the interpreting practice,the author proposed some corresponding strategies regarding deverbalization.At last,the author discussed the main inspiration obtained from studying the interpreting practice,and then gave some advice concerning how to enhance interpretive ability.This thesis consists four major parts,the first two of which are respectively the description of the interpreting task and the relevant preparation and implementation.The third part of this thesis is case study.In the last major part which is conclusion,some limitations of the thesis were analyzed.The author hopes that the study in this thesis can bring inspirations to other interpreters and contribute to better utilizing the deverbalization theory in future studies.
