Translation Of Subcontract Conditions

With the deepening reform and the opening-up, the economic interaction has become more frequent in China. And among all the economic activities, the implementation of all business activities can only be made on the condition of signing contract or writing legal documents. With the development of economy and information globalization, especially after China’s accession to WTO, more international business contacts have been made, which can further the needs of translation on commercial Contract. In a market economy, a single individual or a single unit is often unable to complete a project. And in this process, for the better usage of resources and the maximization of the value, the project always needs to be subcontracted for lack of money and capital. And the implementation of this process requires legal contract norms to govern the rights and obligations between the contractor and subcontractors. So the subcontract is a necessary legal document. A subcontract belongs to the category of business contract. It is widely used in a market economy.The accuracy and normalization of contract translation cannot be called into question, otherwise, the problems such as legal disputes, huge economic losses and the disorder of international market will arise. So the translation on business contract needs not only the guidance of fundamental principles but also the translation strategies.The translation material is based on my own translation practice on Lan-bridge Group Company where I did an internship for about two months. In the process of translation and hereafter, the project manager proofread and audited the terms as well as some difficult and important points. And this thesis is a translation of a subcontract contract on architecture. For me, the translation of legal documents lies not only in the seriousness of the text, but also in the high sense of responsibilities of the translator.This subcontract belongs to the engineering contract, which is one of the contract texts. It is mainly about the subcontracting of an underground engineering. The thesis can be divided into four parts. The author analyzes it from the aspects of translation background, translation process, translation difficulties and translation conclusion. And in the process of translation, the author mainly discussed the preparation before translation, translation strategies, previous experience in subcontract translation and the correction after translation. According to Newmark’s text type analysis, it is suitable to take communicative translation method. And then the author summarizes the difficulties such as long sentences and adverbial clauses. At last, some experience and lessons are brought up just for reference.
