| Taking the short fiction Never Come Back as an example, this thesis tends to explore some tentative translation strategies of translating English short fiction into Chinese from the perspective of functional equivalence. Through detailed analysis, the author attempts to put forward that functional equivalence is the very guiding principle in the process of translation. As for translation strategies, this paper has summarized some practical methods, such as, lexically, literal translation and translation with notes; syntactically, split of long sentences and reconstruction of the target text; textually, using italicized words to denote the original style. The final purpose is to achieve an accurate reproduction of the original cultural connotations in the target language. |
