Metal village, a Chinese community, is located in the suburb of Medan, North Sumatearprovince, Indonesia Being surrended by indonesian language, it is called a typical chinese dialectspoken island that speaks Hakka dialect. On the basis of on-the-spot investigation and lots of thematerial, this paper chooses Metal village’s Hakka vocabulary as the topic. Because Meidavillage’s Hakka dialect is far form Chinese mainland and it has been developed in differentlanguage background and has changed a lot from chinese dialect. The paper describes andanalyzes the dialect to show the features of its vocabulary and then it compares Metal village’sHakka vocabulary to Meixian Hakka dialect, which is home to Hakka dialect, to explore theMeida village’s Hakka vocabulary in its inheritance, contents, rules, expression forms and itscauses.
