The Study On The Vocabulary Of Hubei Wufeng Dialect

The purpose of this study is to identify vocabulary of the Wufeng dialect. Wufengcounty is a gathering place of the Tujia ethnic minority, located in the mountainousregion of southwest Hubei province. With the development of Chinese society, thedialect of the Tujia people has gone far on the way toward hanism. But it still has itsown characteristics of phonetics, vocabulary and grammar.Studies of Wufeng dialect are rare and mostly concentrate on phonetics. This articlecompiles Wufeng vocabulary on the basis of on-the-spot investigation. There are5main parts to this article.The first part is the introduction. The general condition of Wufeng county, thepurpose of this study and its research methods are introduced in this part. The secondpart is a general introduction to the phonetic system, vocabulary system andgrammarical system of the Wufeng dialect, including the classification and origins ofthe dialetical words in Wufeng. The third part introduces the special words andspecial structures of the Wufeng dialect. The fourth part is a list of vocabulary in theWufeng dialect. This part gives a definition and an example of usage for the words inthe Wufeng dialect. The fifth part is the conclusion. This part reviews andsummarizes the whole article.
