Triangular Model of the Interpretive Theory divides interpreting process into three phases: source language understanding, deverbalization and target language delivery. Target language delivery shares many similarities with public speaking in coping with issues like language delivery and stage fright. This dissertation analyses the process of interpreting from the perspective of Triangular Model of the Interpretive Theory, expatiates upon the differences and similarities between public speaking and target language delivery and concludes that interpreters should incorporate public speaking skills critically in accordance with designated interpreting tasks(consecutive interpreting and simultaneous interpreting). Some pedagogical suggestions for interpreter training are presented. |
