The most profound event in Chinese new poetry history in late 1970 s was the Misty Poetry rose sharply among the public. They challenged the traditional poetry both on thoughts and artistry. Gu Cheng is an outstanding representative, who’s an icon in Chinese new poetry history, and many of his works have become the milestone and classics in Chinese modern new poetry history. Gu Cheng created more than 2000 poems and “poem-life” was his expression style all his life. It can be clearly seen that his vigorous and pure pursuit of thoughts and art, which makes his poems’ abstraction and generality reached a higher level, and represents a distinctive temperament. His poems are bizarre, deep and mystery, which make him become the special one in Chinese new poetry history and have a profound impact.The particular images, words and historical factors of his poems attract many foreign readers’ attentions. Although there are a plenty of studies about Gu Cheng,the true Gu Cheng is covered by “fairy-tale poet”, “misty poet” and the taboos of his relatives. This paper, guided by the medio-translatology theory, systematically researches Gu Cheng’s works’ translation, dissemination and studies in English world. It mainly discusses the translators’ attitudes and skills they adopt when they translate, clarifies the transmission and acceptance situation of Gu Cheng’s works,and reveals the historical and cultural factors. Meanwhile, this paper also discusses the reasonable ways that how Chinese new poetry turns to the global readers.
