This essay’s objects of study are the Chinese teaching material used by the learners of Chinese language in intermediate classes of University of Rwanda. As a teacher in the front, refer to the two textbooks which used by intermediate students, New Practical Chinese Reader and Great Wall Chinese, observation and questionnaires were made to them upon the three questions below: 1.Considering the difficulty, are the two textbooks suitable for them?2.Their preference between these two books and reasons.3.Obstacles in understanding annotation in textbooks and lectures in English language.With this questionnaire, conclusion can be made on the feedback and suggestion for these two textbooks from students in intermediate classes. We screened out 30 students as sample to fill the questionnaire. Their Chinese studying duration varies from 4 years to 6 months with study both textbooks at the same time. This essay tries to bring innovation to Chinese language teaching materials in foreign countries because it’s the first collection and reorganization to be done in Rwanda on information of utility of Chinese textbooks and the first summarization of general characteristics on Rwanda students. It shows the dilemma with the current textbooks which Chinese language learners are facing and brings out reasonable advices on studies of localized teaching materials for Chinese language in Rwanda.
