The Sound Systems Of The Speeches In The Guangan City And Its Adjacent Five Counties Of Sichuan Province

Language, which is crucial in our daily life and work, has become more than the bridge for thinking and communication, but the key component for inheritance of culture. Studies on sound, rhyme and accent of dialects are influential as dialects to some extent, have recorded the variation of language, being called “Living fossils”.Due to closely connected with dialects in Chengdu and Chongqing, Guangan and other four counties or cities in Sichuan traditionally had been thought as the part of southwestern mandarin, while they obviously have distinctions out of histories and locations, according to Xuezhen Huang, the author of Southwestern Mandarin in Different Areas.And from the recent studies, there is few article or paper discussing on dialects in Guangan and other four subordinate counties, much less a comprehensive recording and comparative research on phonetic system. Thus comparatively by studying different phonetic among Chongqing, Chengdu and Guangan dialects, this paper is striving for an overall result completed by lasting field research.Following six compose this paper: Introduction, as the start part, outlines previous phonetic studies on Guangan, Yuechi, Guxian, Wusheng, Huaying and Linshui, materials collection and investigation for pronunciation, research methods, signs illustrations and specific dates and spots during this study. Then overviews of locations and political establishments have been introduced. The next part points to initials, finals and intonations of dialects, clear to readers. As the core of this paper, Part suggests Ⅳthe commons and specialties in phonetic systems of above five regions by carefully summarizing their characteristics, through comparative studies to dialects in Chongqing and Chengdu. This paper concludes with a general feature of the phonetic system in Guangan, including Yuechi, Guxian, Wusheng, Huaying and Linshui. Necessarily, the presences of division maps are added to this paper, supplementary as the appendix.First-hand sound materials deriving from field researches, added with professional data base are guarantee for this research. Besides, with the synchronic description and diachronic explanation, comparative phonetic study could be done in depth in centre of Guangan, Chongqing and Chengdu, using historical comparative linguistics and Chinese dialectology.
