| With the development of society and the spread of the Internet, news all over the world is spreading with a high speed. In such a news-explosive era,how to help target readers get the most important and interesting information in a shortest time has become an important key for translators. The traditional complete translation absolutely can not catch up with the spread of news.This report is a translation project which studies the translation of government affairs news from the website www.suining.gov.cn. The source news for this project is the everyday top news with red title, which is usually long. In order to make translations simple, clear and effective, this project is guided by Translation Variation Theory by Huang Zhonglian, which puts target readers at the first place. The 11 means of Translation Variation Theory are divided into two categories according to the amount of the preserved source information and the amount of newly added information. For one category, translation information is mainly from source text, and for the other, translation information may from both source texts and translators. Since the source texts of news are objective and serious, this project mainly adopts the four basic means of Translation Variation Theory: selection, adaptation, paraphrase, condensation.While translating, the author analyzes source texts to get the main idea, thinks for target readers to find out their interests, summarizes and re-edits source texts to get clear clues. Finally, the translations are simple, clear and effective.Through this project, the author understands the necessities to have profound knowledge of English and Chinese, flexible thinking and team spirits.This report shows that adopting Translation Variation Theory in the translation of government affairs news can make translations simple, clear and effective. The report hopes that news translators can research and apply Translation Variation Theory flexibly. |
