A Report On Simulated CI Of A DHgate CEO’s Speech At The E-commerce Forum

Based on the author’s simulation interpreting of the speech by Madam Wang Shutong, CEO of DHgate Company, the author explores and studies feasible countermeasures to improve Chinese-English consecutive interpreting quality.This thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one briefly introduces the backgrounds, requirements and characteristics of the task. Chapter two describes the author’s work before, in and after the consecutive interpreting simulation practice. In chapter three, the author analyzes the major interpreting problems such as repetitions, pauses and fillers, excessive additions and omissions, misinterpreting of figures, misinterpreting of idioms. Chapter four puts forwards some countermeasures to improve interpreting quality.This thesis hopes to be helpful in understanding of the consecutive interpreting practice, providing references to relevant interpreting activities and improving the author’s consecutive interpreting ability.
