As a report on whispered interpreting Chinese to English, this dissertation describes one WI task conducted by the author for “2014 China · Shijiazhuang Trade Fair ”, analyzes the difficult points in the interpreting, such as figure and typical Chinese terms, and discusses some translation skills according to different groups with the translation practice and corresponding theories. In the task description, the report describes the important “pre-interpreting preparation” and divides it into three phases according to time order: early stage, intermediate stage and later stage. The report also details the author’s work content in each of the three stages. In the part of Theoretical Guidance & Case Studies, the report first describes the theoretical guidance of this task and the relevant interpreting strategies. Then, a series of typical cases are selected to be analyzed with this interpreting task from three perspectives: application of omission, application of linear translation, handling with Chinese typical terms.Through the description of the task and analysis cases, it is found that the pre-interpreting preparation plays a vital role in the interpreting work. On the other hand, we should attach importance to the characteristics of WI and guarantee the on-site effects by using corresponding strategies with interpretive theory of translation. Moreover, the interpreters should focus attention and improve psychological quality on the conference site. Only in this way can the interpreters cope with the task better.
