Based on stress and study perspective on acculturation, this research aims at exploring the relationship between self-monitoring, cross cultural adaptation and cultural intelligence.123 Chinese students who are studying in American filled the questionnaires exploring the style of self-monitoring, cultural.intelligence and cross cultural adaptation. The results indicated that;1) high self monitoring can significantly predict the 4 dimensions of cultural intelligence positively, other-oriental can significantly predict cognitive CQ negatively, self-oriental can significantly predict motivated CQ positively; 2) motivated CQ can predict the psychological and social cultural adaptation, cognitive CQ can significantly predict the cultural values and social interpersonal relationship; 3) high self monitoring can significantly predict psychological and social cultural adaptation positively excepted the dimension of GHQ-social function, other-oriental can significantly predict the tow dimensions of GHQ-12, life satisfactory, social life and interpersonal relationship negatively; 4) the motivated CQ will play as a mediator in the relationship between high self-monitoring and psychological, social-cultural adaptation.
