The Research On Inheritance And Development Of Shanghai Rap During The Process Of Urban Renewal

Quyi is one of the cultural identities of a district. As an intangible cultural heritage in Shanghai, Shanghai Rap was born in an urban atmosphere, different from other quyi and of great reference value to the research on urban literature and folklore of Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang area. Shanghai Rap is an important inheriting carrier of Shanghai’s history as well. In addition, Shanghai Rap keeps the relatively complete characteristics of Shanghai dialect, which is indispensable in the study of Linguistics and Shanghai regional culture. Therefore, to protect and inherit Shanghai Rap plays an important role in extending the historical and cultural context of this city.However, with the development of urbanization and urban renewal, residents in cities have changed, so have their living paradigm and aesthetic needs, which leads that many local quyi and cultural heritages, including Shanghai Rap, have been deep in the crisis of survival.In this dissertation, many research methods will be used, such as literature review, depth interview, observation, image sorting and analysis and comparative studies. The study of Shanghai Rap will be started from the environment and history when it arose, after what look into the current situation of its inheritance and then wholly explain three elements "language, performance and music" in Shanghai Rap while putting it back into the context of urban renewal. On this basis, we can find out the root cause of its existing crisis and come up with the effective solution.
