| With the development of science and technology, the science fiction translation emerges. With the increasing international exchange, the foreign advanced concept of literature and the top science and technology are introduced to the domestic audience, especially the original and unique content of science fiction feast for reader’s eyes. It is the bridge of culture, science and technology on Chinese-foreign cooperation. It also promotes the development of knowledge and technology.This report is a study of translation practice. The translation project is a science fiction 2012 DOOMSDAY written by W · H · Mumfrey, an American writer. The selected translation text is Section 5, which mainly focuses on the different outcomes in facing the disasters and different measures that should be taken in facing different crisis.This current practice study is made under the functional equivalence theory put forward by Eugene Nida, and the receptive aesthetics theory suggested by Hans Robert Jauss. The author combines them with the specific translation methods. Moreover, the author mainly adopts the amplification, the use of Chinese four-character structure, transliteration and liberal translation in the translation of words. In dealing with the long sentences of English-Chinese translation, the author mainly takes syntactic linearity, recasting, splitting and insertion. In the course of translating scientific and technological terms, the author consults relevant professional materials and books to ensure the accuracy in translation.Throughout the process of translation practice, the author fully recognizes the guiding significance of the translation theory for the translation practice. Meanwhile, the author believes translation skills and experiences are also important for a qualified translator. At the same time, the report also summarizes the experience and various deficiencies in the process of translation. The author takes it as an opportunity to make progress in these aspects in the future. |
