With the development of economic integration and information and communication technology,people are facing the era of globalization beyond nations and countries. Most countries in the wo rld are multinational and multilingual, which made the world culture have the character of variety and diversity. Therefore, multicultural education policy has become the mainstream in the education al field of many countries, and it is bilingual education that is the critical component and importa nt sign of multicultural education. In multinational countries, bilingual education has already becom e an efficient way to build harmonious relationship between the integration of the state and the di versity of the culture and to realize the multicultural integration.China is a multinational and multilingual country and the brilliant culture created by differentnational groups in Xinjiang is the representation of the diversity of Chinese culture. After the fou nding of the People’s Republic of China, it is fully guaranteed to free to use and develop their o wn language by each national group in Xinjiang. Bilingual education aimed at “mastering both Chi nese and minority language” has been developing rapidly, which is the need of adjusting different ethnic groups to multicultural society and also the basic trend of the development of national educ ation. As the critical component of the bilingual education of China, it would be a great pity in o rder to develop the bilingual educational theory with Chinese characteristic if the experience and r esearch of bilingual education in Xinjiang are ignored. Yili, as a multinational region, its bilingualeducation has the commonality of general bilingual education as well as the individuality. Based on the current situation of minority bilingual education of major of arts in Xinjiang colleges and u niversities, adopting literature method, field survey method, and comprehensive research method, wi th the minority students majoring in arts in Yi Li Normal University as the subject of the study, th e writer discusses the internal rules of bilingual education and tries to find out the weaknesses of restricting the development of bilingual education of the university through analyzing the current si tuation of bilingual education of minority students majoring in arts in Yi Li Normal University, andat the same time, puts forward some efficient strategies and suggestions in order to solve the pro blems and promote the development of bilingual education of minority students majoring in arts ofXinjiang colleges and universities.This thesis consists of five parts. The first part is the introduction, which briefly introduces t he aim and meaning of this research. And the second part mainly states the current situation of bi lingual education of Xinjiang and Yi Li Normal University. The research and analysis of bilingual education of minority students majoring in arts of Yi Li Normal University are discussed in the thi rd part, which mainly talks about the students’ personality characteristics and professional features and specifically analyses the problems existed in learning, teaching and teaching materials. And in the forth part, efficient strategies and suggestions are raised, which includes the following points: e nhancing students’ understanding of Chinese learning; developing students’ interests in learning Chinese; improving teachers’ teaching quality; bettering Chinese teaching material; adjusting minori ty students’ psychology and conduct of learning Chinese and emphasizing the combination of Chin ese learning and individual ability, etc..
