In the21st century, with China’s accession to the WTO and global integration, the level of internationalization in pharmaceutical industry is increasingly improving. The demand for different levels of talents with both pharmacy knowledge and English skills is accordingly increasing. Therefor, we faster to high-quality and compound talents with both pharmacy knowledge and proficient in a foreign language is imminently desiring. But,how to improve students’ workplace English abilities has become the main objective of the Pharmaceutical English curriculum teaching reform in Vocational Colleges which are aiming at training production, testing, marketing and other front-line positions of the pharmacy personnel.Pharmaceutical English, an important part of English Teaching in Vocational colleges, is a subsequent course for Pharmacy major students in the Medical Vocational College after they completing their Public English courses. The establishment of Pharmaceutical English is quite applicable and instructional for Pharmacy professional knowledge learning. Students need to learn not only the English language knowledge, but also they have to learn working skills and professional qualities related to their future works in the Pharmaceutical English classrooms. Therefore, research on the teaching reform of the Pharmacy major in Vocational Colleges is becoming an important subject that all of the English teachers in Vocational Colleges have to deal with. This paper analyzes teaching situation of the pharmaceutical English in vocational college in China from the establishment of teaching objectives, the reconstruction of teaching staffs, the selection of teaching material, the choice of teaching model and orientation of teaching evaluation through questionnaire investigation and interview method. To find out the current common problems in teaching of pharmaceutical English in vocational college in China. For example, teaching contents come apart with practice, teaching methods are single and boring, teachers’qualities need to be improved, students are lack of learning initiatives, the teaching evaluation mechanism is not into the system, and so on. We can also provide knowledge and technical skills for the globalization of our country’s pharmaceutical industry, firstly through established teaching objectives that are based on demand and analysis, then through optimum teaching contents that are directed by professional and unique working processes. We apply innovative teaching models which are thinking of practice and development. Our evaluation systems are refined by scientific and reasonable. We achieve new reformed methods of teaching which have been brought about by resourceful teaching supplies, campus internal interactions and partnerships with business.
