21st Century, in China, our life to achieve a healthy level but also ushered in anaging society. According to statistics, China60years of age or older has reached143million, accounting for10.97percent of the total population. Authorities estimate thatby2015, China’s60years of age or older will reach216million. As China entered theaging society, the health of the elderly has become the focus of social concern. However,health is not only influenced by individual physical impact, but also the way of lifeacquired closely linked. Studies in the health of elderly, emphasis on strengtheninghealth measures in the elderly and slowing the aging process have become an importantresearch topic.Line Dance with its feature of aerobic exercise, low-intensity, entertaining, easy tolearn and so loved by the elderly, is gradually spreading in the city of our country. ByLine Dance exercise can make the body of the elderly get a good workout, improvedphysical function. Regular exercise time and the rhythm of the beautiful music enablethe elderly to get exercise in the body, at the same time relax the mind, life is moreoptimistic. Line Dance has a positive effect in the physical and mental health of elderly.On the experimental study of Line Dance for its promotion in the elderly population,improving the physical and mental health in the elderly has important significance.According to the establishment of physical and mental health in the elderly fitnessevaluation index system, this study selected20participants who took part in the linedance exercise and8participants who didn’t take part in the Line Dance. After12weeks of uninterrupted line dance exercise, the study tested the participants’physiological health indicators and compared the same results of12weeks ago. Thestudy also conducted a survey of the psychological indicators with the20participantswho took part in the line dance exercise and analyzed the various indicators in thetransverse and longitudinal level. The result shows that the indicators which reflect thephysical health have been improved after the12weeks uninterrupted exercise, theresting heart rate, exercise heart rate, diastolic indexes have much improved, the FVCindicators shows significant improvement, the systolic pressure indicator, althoughimproved, but the level was not significant; the test results of the indicators who took part in the line dance exercise are better than the participants who didn’t take part in theexercises; The survey shows that the line dance exercise is good for the elderly toimprove mood, eliminate loneliness, enhance self-confidence, adjust the mental statethrough the dance music. The study concludes that the line dance exercise caneffectively improve the older women’s physical and mental health indicators. The linedance exercise has positive fitness value, and also is the important content and effectivemeans for the mental health of the older women. It is suitable for the elderly toparticipate and to promote in the city.
