In 2008,the State Sport General Administration listed the line dance as one of national fitness activities to popularize in the next few years,it is similar to sports dance,aerobics,square dance and other sports,but the current situation of line dance in colleges and universities is not satisfactory.Aiming at the non-optimistic situation of line dance in colleges and universities' development,this paper analyzes and probes into the effects of line dance on college students,fitness and wellness,and puts forward some suggestions to promote and popularize this movement.By the using methods of documentary,questionnaire,experiment and mathematical statistics,this paper puts 84 freshmen who choose public PE course in 2 classes that from Nanjing Normal University for a period of 12 weeks continuous tracking study.Among them,the experimental group has 41 students including 11 boys and 30 girls.The control group has 43 students including 3 boys and 40 girls.The control group 's teacher was appointed by school's leader,and according to the teaching plan of the public physical education course,physical fitness practice was used as the teaching content.There are 41 students as the experimental object in the experimental group which carried out 12 weeks of Line dance PE course.Not only teachers,but also teaching content and process were personally held and designed by myself.This paper chose the "Relax" Which has hip-hop style as the line dance teaching content.The study used overall self-esteem and life satisfaction as indicators for measuring mental health.Before and after the experiment,experimental and control groups students need to answer questionnaire twice,and then according to the survey results and physical fitness test for comparison and analysis,the results showed that:(1)Line dance can effectively improve the overall level of college students'physical self-development.It has a significant effect on college students' physical coordination,flexibility,endurance,self-esteem,motor ability and overall body dimensions.(2)Line dance can effectively improve the development of college students'physical health.It has a significant effect on flexibility,explosive power,aerobic endurance's physical quality.(3)There are gender differences in the development of college students' mental health level.Line dance exercise can help to improve the overall self-esteem and life satisfaction of female college students.
