This is a translation report on How Companies Learn Your Secrets, an article extracted from Charles Duhigg’s book the Power of Habit. Published in New York Times, the article tells how Target attracted customers and promoted sales by analyzing statistics and combining results from habit experiment.This report consists of translation report and translation practice. Translation report is a summary and analysis of the translation practice, which is an English to Chinese translation task of10,000words. The quality control chapter is the main part of the report. In this chapter, I deeply learned the translation strategy and language point by analyzing the difficult points. I illustrated the reasons and the effects of applying the translation strategy of domestication and foreignization, the translation technique of omission and amplification. Process translation and the translation of difficult words are also analyzed in the report.Through translation practice and its analysis, I had learned much: Sufficient preparation helps a lot; Translator needs strong knowledge base; Daily translation practice is very important to a translator. Translation is a miscellaneous art. Only by accumulating knowledge constantly, can one be better prepared for the translation work.
