As translation industry is rapidly expanding recent years, translation projects are endowed with large scale and more complexity, which leads to urgent need in translation market of talents who are adept in translation project management. Domestic and abroad colleges have already faced the trend and contained project management and translation technology in their curricula. However, curricula reform stays relatively behind the market trend. Now domestic MTI graduates are not equipped with complete knowledge structure to be qualified as a translation project manager. The survey was conducted among191translation companies, which are members of Translators’ Association of China, aiming to reflect new trend in current translation market and implementation of project management of translation companies. Based on the urgent need of project management talents, the author carried out a case study of BFSU’s MTI translation program and put forward possible ways to improve MTI cultivation mode.By summarizing former research results on translation project management and MTI cultivation mode of colleges and universities, it was found that we lack researches that are closely linked with market situation. Thus based on survey of translation companies and analysis of findings on multiple perspectives, this article proposes to refine our cultivation of MTI students both in industry they are adept and role they will play in future.
