With the development of the economy and military in recent years, China is playing an increasingly important role in the international state. Besides, China continuously enlarges the cooperation with the other countries in the aspects of economy, politic, science, culture and so on. During this period, China’s actions arouse extend attention of diverse media both at home and abroad. What’s more, the leaders’speeches have become the most direct channel for others to know about China. However, due to the distinction between languages and cultures, and the immediacy of the speeches, the difficulties of interpreting is becoming more and more obvious.In the research of interpreting, the Interpreting Theory which was created by the French interpreting theorist Danica Seleskovitch is widely used by the interpreting group. The theory maintains that interpreting is to explain meanings, it is essential to explain the inner meanings of the source languages rather than to explain the meanings of words.The speeches in this paper are mainly from President Xi Jinping since2012to2015. It aims to systematically explain the interpreting principles and strategies with the guidance of Interpreting Theory through the study of these interpreting materials.This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduces the meaning, purpose, method, supporting theory and corpus description of this study. The second chapter briefly introduces interpreting and the Interpreting Theory in analyzing Xi Jinping’s speeches. The fourth chapter states the principles and methods of interpreting. The last chapter is the conclusion.
