As the future builders and successors of our country, the physicaland mental health of the college students is important for the developmentof our country. Resilience is related to both physical and mental healthand social activity of individuals. The study of resilience brings newstrength for positive psychology, provides new ideas and is valuable forthe development and mental health of individual, family and other socialgroups. Therefore, from the perspective of improving resilience, we couldstrengthen the construction of college students mental health. Otherwise,the intensive study should be based on the characteristics of the collegestudents. First, without permanent income, they have to be attached totheir family to a certain extent. This means that the college studentshave not been out off their family, the impact of family is still workingon them. Based on the characteristics, this study selected the parentingstyles to study its impact to resilience. Secondly, they pursueindividuality liberation, while they hope to keep consistency with groupsin their collective life at the same time. From this perspective, thereis a stronger relation between social support and mental health, so weselect social support to research its role between parenting styles andresilience.This research adopts the questionnaires to investigate the parentingstyles, resilience and social support and of college students, andthrough the further statistical analysis to explore the relationshipamong these three variables. We had given out450questionnaires andrecycled413effective questionnaires, here is the results:1.Parenting styles of college students have some differences indemographic variables. Boys got a higher over-intervene andover-protection of father than girls. City college students feel a higher over-intervene, refusal-denial from father,and more over-intervene,over-protection and severe punishment from mother than rural students.The only children also feel a higher over-intervene,refusal-denial,over-protection and severe punishment than non-only children. Fatheremotional warmth of science and engineering students is higher thanhumanities students. Comparing father parenting styles with mother, wefound that the emotional warmth and refusal-denial of mother is higherthan that of father,while severe punishment of father is higher thanmother.2.Ordinary college students have a higher average level of resilience.There is a significant gender difference in resilience. Girls have ahigher level of resilience than boys.3.Ordinary college students have a higher average level of social support.The level of social support of girls is significantly higher than boys,the level of social support of rural college students is significantlyhigher than urban students, and the level of social support of the onlychildren is significantly higher than those who are non-only children.4.Parenting styles of college students correlated significantly withtheir resilience.5.Parenting styles of college students correlated significantly withtheir social support.6.Social support of college students is remarkably positively related totheir resilience.7.Social support of college students play a mediating role betweenparenting styles and resilience. The mediation analysis indicated thatsocial support plays a mediating role between father severe punishmentand resilience, father refusal-denial and resilience, motherrefusal-denial and resilience,mother severe punishment and resiliencerespectively. In conclusion, there are correlations among parenting styles,resilience and social support in college students,and social supportplays a mediating role between parenting styles and resilience.This study suggested that improving parenting styles, including givingmore emotional warmth and acceptance and recognition, adopting moderateinterference and protection, using the punishment prudently willcontribute to promoting the individual social support, and then will havea positive influence on the resilience of college students.
