ABSTRACT:The Confucius institute of the university of Nairobi and Tianjin Normal university cooperation was established in order to promote Chinese culture and language. This research through researching the Chinese language teaching methods, summarized some useful insights on teaching Kenyan students, ways of developing Chinese teaching, goal oriented teaching and promote Chinese culture.This research takes the University of Nairobi as the case study, the contents revolves around development of Chinese teaching methods. With Kenya as an example, the research analyzes the current state of Chinese teaching through the careful analysis of other related researches, examines the current data collected from the questionnaires, and the experience as a Kenyan student and later as an intern Chinese language teacher.The first part is the introduction of this essay. It describes the aim. meaning and value of this research. It introduces the studies from other countries, analyzes findings of research from the other scholars.The second chapter is the current state of teaching Chinese in Kenya. Through introduction of Confucius institute at the University of Nairobi, carefully collected relevant data analyzes it and present it.The third and forth chapter is the analysis of the second language teaching methods.Through careful examination of each method,we look at the application of each and usefulness in developing Chinese teaching in Kenya.The fifth chapter is the findings of the research and the conclusion.
