In the work of teaching Chinese as a foreign language,the teaching of phonetic is a key and difficult point.In the realistic teaching work,the phonetic features of the Chinese learners' languages can make a great influence on teaching effect.What's more,correct teaching principles and teaching methods also seem especially important.By the means of reading and learning previous literature,this thesis firstly summarized and analyzed the revelation of phonetic teaching come from the existing studies about phonetic contrast between different languages and Chinese,the teaching principles and teaching methods about teaching Chinese phonetic as a foreign language;and then gave a brief introduction about the Chinese phonetic teaching background in Kenya Institute of Chinese Teaching where the author used to practice according to practical experience and studies.Subsequently the thesis discussed the phonetic features of the languages which the students study in Kenya Institute of Chinese Teaching have already mastered and also it's contrast with Chinese phonetic features.At last the thesis discussed and summarized the teaching principles,teaching methods,the problems appearing in the process of phonetics teaching and the way to solve them during the work of Chinese phonetic teaching to Kenya people on the basis of the research above and authors' practice teaching cases.It was concluded that the teacher should pay attention to the phonetic teaching obstruct brought by Swahili and English during the process of teaching Chinese to Kenya.Besides,the teaching principles and teaching methods aimed to Kenyan students with different Chinese level should also be changed.Besides,the teacher need to discover and accumulate the problems appearing in the process of Kenya phonetics teaching,and actively think of ways to deal with the problems.
