This is a report of the graduation project—the translation of Sustainable Living Explained written by a contemporary American writer Sarah Burke. Sustainable Living Explained is an e-book which is firstly published by Amazon in2014. As an environmental work, this book is intended to tell people what sustainable life is and how to live a sustainable life based on the family unit. From the perspective of sustainable development, this book appeals to people of social and environmental responsibilities to start with little things for themselves and to partake jointly in fighting with the environmental pollution. Nowadays the concept of sustainable living lifestyle is relatively blank, especially in China. Since this book provides people with a cognitive approach to access to the environmental protection and an opportunity to participate in solving environmental problems in a sustainable way, the translation of such practical text is important for environmental protection and beneficial to a sustainable lifestyle.The original text belongs to the informative text with the purpose of educating people by what the original author desires to convey—the sustainable living lifestyle. As a work aimed at conveying environmental knowledge to people, this kind of text suits to be translated under the guidance of the skopos theory which can benefit the target readers by conveying intact message attached to the original text to them. In addition, the methods to deal with passive voice sentences will also be addressed in the report and finally the report will go to the translation of long and complicated sentences. Writing this translation report I look forward to providing some references and useful advice to translators or laymen who are keen on translation studies for those informative texts.
