The original text is drawn from Building for a Sustainable Future in Our Schools.The text mainly introduces the influences of social capital,economic development and human social behaviors on sustainable education development.The chapter 2 and chapter 12 are the key chapters in this book.Considering the actual value of the translated text that the advanced education concepts in developed countries can provide guidance for the development of higher education in China,the author of the thesis chooses these two chapters as the translated original text.The chapter 2 mainly discusses how to reduce the education limits in working class.The chapter 12 mainly introduces the significance of maintaining the balanced development of education and economy and discusses two critical factors impeding developing countries from closing the gap between education development and economic development.Translating this book can help China bring in foreign advanced education theories and broaden the reader's sights.Building for a Sustainable Future in Our Schools is characterized of many complex sentences and special education terms.There are many long sentences in the original text,which is the difficulty in translation.Furthermore,abundant clauses and parenthesis exist in long sentences,which results in a trouble for the translator when analyzing the sentence's structure.For the translation of the long sentences,the translator mainly adopts the methods of literal translation and reverse translation.On account of the differences between English and Chinese,the translation of passive voice sentences is another difficulty.The translator mainly employs two common methods of translating passive voice sentences: Translating English passive voice to Chinese active voice and translating English passive voice to Chinese passive voice.Through this translation practice,the translator draws the conclusions as follows: First,the translator should focus on the translation accuracy of educational terms when translating educational academic literatures.Second,the translator should have a good command of some basic pedagogy and psychology knowledge.
