Quality Comparison Of Two Versions Of Inaugural Address Of Barack Obama

In recent years, media programs in China attached much more importance to news timeliness. So in order to release news earlier and give the first-hand information to Chinese audience, TV stations have increasingly applied simultaneous interpretation to TV programs as a useful tool, especially when reporting international breaking news and significant events. However,Chinese TV SI falls behind developed countries like France, America and Italy. There is also a large gap between CCTV and Phoenix TV(HK).After collecting a plenty of related research achievements and studying the different versions of CCTV and Phoenix TV, the writer makes a quality comparison between the two TV stations upon Inaugural Address of Barack Obama in 2009 by using observational method and comparative analysis approach. Based on "the interpretive theory"and "the effort model" raised by Danica Seleskovitch and Daniel Gile respectively,this paper explores the features and difficulties of SI. Then several feasible suggestions are proposed to improve the whole level of SI field and let more TV audience learn about TV SI.The author also hopes that we can cultivate more excellent interpreters and develop TV SI,thus the international news can spread more efficient without national boundaries.The paper focuses on the quality comparison between CCTV and Phoenix TV upon Inaugural Address of Barack Obama by analyzing examples. But some certain difficulties arouse because of the limited resources in the TV SI field, so the author needs to come up with some new ideas.
