Remember The Ancestors:the Investigation Of Sichuan Chongzhou Zhongyuan Festival In The Perspective Of Cultural Anthropology

The 15th day of the 7th lunar month is Zhongyuan Festival, this is a Chinese folk festival. The Chongzhou Zhongyuan Festival is a blend of Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism. Chongzhou is located in the centre of the Chengdu Plain, This area was influenced by the Taoism in history. The Zhongyuan Festival was wildly popular in Chongzhou. The sacrifice was happened on the 12th day of the 7th lunar month in Chongzhou, the ancestor-worship was a theme on Zhongyuan Festival. The annual ritual activities can strengthen family memories, reshape the clan concepts. The Chongzhou Zhongyuan Festival is a complex culture system. Researching the Chongzhou Zhongyuan Festival from the view of cultural anthropology is the main purpose in this thesis. it contains sacrifice activities and cultural adaptation. Meanwhile, this research on the Chongzhou Zhongyuan Festival will be placed under the background of Balance Urban and Rural Development, to research the urban, the settlements, the town, the natural village, respectively. This thesis is aimed at providing a referenced text for the research of traditional culture in the little area through the investigation on the Chongzhou Zhongyuan Festival.
