| The proper handling of euphemisms in diplomatic interpreting determines to some degree the success of diplomatic activities. The author classifies the problems involved in interpreting diplomatic euphemism into three categories, i.e. linguistic problem, cultural problem and communicative problem. Each category is described and explained with specific examples. In the body part, under the guidance of ecotranslatology, the author provides suggestions to solve the problems from linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension, i.e. three-dimensional transformation. In terms of linguistic dimension, interpreters need to adapt to the source language style; from the perspective of cultural dimension, interpreters need to convey the cultural connotation; from the perspective of communicative intention, interpreters need to deliver the communicative intension of the speaker. With detailed explanation and examples, the author hopes that the thesis will help interpreters improve their performance in interpreting the diplomatic euphemism. |
