| As a complicated interpreting activity,"diplomatic interpretation”has a very serious and political nature covering a wide range of fields,such as politics,law,language,culture,etc.Ecological translation studies pay attention to both the process and the external environment of interpretation providing a new perspective for the study of "diplomatic interpretation".It is a theory focusing on the integrity of the translation ecosystem which fills the gap of systematic researches on the "ecological dimension”of translation studies and promotes the development of Chinese translation theory.At the press conference,Minister Wang Yi's speech style is formal and the content of it is serious.The thesis aims to analyze how translators make adaptive selections during the consecutive interpretation from the perspective of Eco-translatology specifically from"three-dimensional" transformation(language dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension)and the translator's"adaptive selection".Wang Yi's speeches at the 2019 Press Conference are chosen as an example in this paper.By means of case analysis,the author analyzes the interpreter's behavior of adaptation and selection in the specific ecological environment during the interpreting process.The thesis analyzes linguistic dimension specifically from aspects of vocabulary,syntax,and rhetoric.For cultural dimension,it studies from two aspects which are adaptation to the ecology of the source language as well as the target language.For communicative dimension,the author chooses to explore the interpretation's adaptive selection from acceptable speaking style and media popularity.By analyzing the corpus,this paper has explored diplomatic consecutive interpreting strategies of domestication and foreignization considering various ecological environments which bring a practical guiding significance of Eco-translatology to the practice of "diplomatic interpretation”and some practical values for the development of "diplomatic interpretation”. |
