The imperial edict--a kind of literary form that emperors issue orders to his subjects in Chinese feudal times, It represents Supreme and absolute authority of emperors. The imperial edict originates from “Shang Shu”, the “order” in Xuanyuan Tang Yu times is the indirect source of the imperial edict, and the “admonish”, “oath”, “order” in Xia Shang Zhou Dynasty is the direct source of the imperial edict; Zhou Dynasty is an important period to the formation of the imperial edict, Qin Shi Huang changes order to the imperial edict, and the imperial edict is built finally. Wei Jin is a very important period in the development history of the imperial edict, during this period, according to different authors the imperial edict can be divided into four parts: the emperor’s imperial edict, the representative body’s imperial edict,the queen’s imperial edict and on the pretext of imperial edict. According to different function the imperial edict can be divided into the pardon imperial edict, the self-accusation imperial edict, the seeking imperial edict, punitive expedition imperial edict and the posthumous imperial edict and so on.The overall style of language is justice, rigorous, elegant, mild and gorgeous. but the style differ from the different content, each emperor’s imperial edict has his own character. On the language style, the imperial edict of Wei Jin has both parallel style and dispersion style. Vertically, the imperial edicts of Cao Wei are mainly dispersion style, and the imperial edicts of Liang Jin are the parallel style; from the horizontal point of view, the imperial edicts about daily transaction processing are dispersion style, and the imperial edicts regarding solemn political events are parallel style.We discuss the interaction and mutual influence relationship between the imperial edict and the literature of the era, Confucianism, Metaphysics, Buddhism and Taoism thoughts. The rulers love and advocate literature during the period of Cao Wei Dynasty, so the imperial edict influence on literature strongly, while the rulers are not good at diction or disregard literature during the Jin Dynasties, so literary influence on imperial edict strongly. Metaphysics begin to replace decadent Confucianism and develop rapidly in the period of Jin Dynasty. Ming Jiao and nature mix together in Western Jin Dynasty, the landscape aesthetic enter the field of idle talk. Buddhism and Taoism are not fully developed in the Wei and Jin Dynasties. but they obtain rulers’ universal trust in Dong Jin Dynasty. which were reflected in the Wei and Jin imperial edicts, in turn, the huge influence and appeal also affects the rise or fall of various thought.Through analysing the structure, the language, the content of the imperial edict, and its relationship with the literature of this era and social thought, Wei Jin imperial edict has strong literary characteristics, and some of them are best literary works.
