| With its convenient, real-time and dynamic characters, mobile media is gaining increasing favor from a large amount of mobile phone users at home and abroad. Affected by the mobile phone capacity limit, the form and the content of the headline of the mobile phone news have been considerably restricted. According to the statistics of the 500 China Daily news headlines form August in 2014 to April in 2015, almost 93% of the 500 English headlines have been reduced from the original Chinese headlines. Given that the mobile news is a new media, thus it is necessary to have a systematic study on the mobile news headlines translation. This thesis attempts to conduct a comparatively comprehensive and systematic study on the reductionist approach in the mobile news headlines C-E translation. By analyzing many headlines translation examples selected from China Daily Mobile News, the author will summarize some methods for reduction, hoping that it will benefit the improvement of the quality of and the study on the mobile news headlines(C-E) translation. |
