In this paper,Liao mural tombs which found in Shanxi Datong is the Object of this study. First, the situation of Datong Liao tombs were reviewed and an overview of research of academia on the Liao Dynasty tombs, particularly in relation to the Datong Liao tombs’murals to present the main results and perspectives are reviewed. According to the Datong Liao mural tombs published studies, the main shape of the tomb were circular single-chamber, had coffin bed,on the coffin bed had sarcophagus or pottery which containing the ashes. The mural was different from the contents and forms in early and late. This article is divided in accordance with the early and late time, want to research these Liao mural tombs on the shape, funerary objects and murals.According to the study, the Liao mural tombs in Datong area were divided into early and late two categories. For the unearthed pottery, porcelain, and other funerary objects collate and analyze. Chronology tomb of ruler, on the basis of previous academic studies on the combination of new materials, the Liao Dynasty mural tombs in Datong area is divided into early and late, and each phase of Burial and funerary objects, murals characteristics were summarized and concluded. After, the cultural factors of Liao mural tombs were reflected in Datong, and comparative study of the Liao Dynasty tomb murals and other surrounding areas were analyzed and explained.Through the study found, Liao mural tombs in Datong to tomb passage up with the number of brick tomb, circular shape as the main tomb, should be inherited from the traditional Tomb of the region, indicating that in terms of local traditions Graves always been the mainstream. Datong Liao mural tombs in small funerary objects, but not porcelain in early, late Burial funerary objects mainly porcelain. Porcelain production in Qing kiln, Jiezhuang kiln on Hongyuan. A little came from other areas. Burial belong to The Han people, murals have local characteristics. Religious Culture was reflected in epitaphs, funerary objects and so on. Buddhist culture as the main factors, reflected the popular of Buddhism and its impact on social life.
