This is a translation report, and the source text is from the Part 2 to Part 6 of Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act. The chosen content for translation consists of five parts, they are, respectively, incorporation, capacity and powers, registered office and records, corporate finance as well as debt obligation, certificates, registers and transfers. In this report, the author, firstly, makes a brief introduction to the translation project, specially pointing out the meaning of this project. Secondly, the author makes a discussion on the linguistic features and translation principles of prescriptive legal texts, laying a solid theoretic foundation for the following translation work. Thirdly, the author draws her attention to the analysis of the difficulties in dealing with some vacant concepts, consecutive synonyms and long sentences in the process of this translation, and then proposes the strategies and methods adopted in solving these difficulties. Finally, the author makes a conclusion for this project, with the expectation of providing some guidance and help for the future practice of translation. |
