TCSL teachers using the body language plays a significant role in the process of teaching. For one thing, it not only can help teachers organize the teaching, but also can help students understand and accept the knowledge; for another, if the teachers is not effective use of body language to assist teaching during the teaching, the teacher’s body language will also interfere with the teaching, reduce the efficiency of teaching in the process. So, the teachers could correctly understand and use body language is very important.Firstly, on the basis of teaching Chinese as a foreign language theory, the teacher’s body language is divided into two categories: one is the etiquette of being a teacher. When teachers use the body language, they should not break the rules of being etiquette as teachers, and also, they should pay attention not to disrespect the communication etiquette of students’ countries. The other category is the teaching etiquette. While important the students, teachers could use body language to assist the process of teaching. Consequently, it could boost the efficiency of teaching.Secondly, describe the teachers’ body language in the process of teaching of elementary Chinese class, and respectively investigated the foreigner students from elementary class and TCSL teachers, to investigate their attitudes towards teacher body language.Finally, according to the investigation and study, body language plays an important role in the process of TCSL. It could assist language teaching, improve the efficiency of teaching, popularize Chinese culture, enhance students’ ability of cross-cultural communication, feedback students’ learning status, and promote teachers’ reflection. To play the positive role of body language, teachers should comply with the following principles when they use the body language: courtesy, efficiency, stimulating, flexibility and science – normative and the principle of moderation.
