Chemistry is an important natural subject. Many of the international chemical research results are written in English, undoubtedly, which will cause understanding trouble to the domestic academics. As an MTI student, the author hopes to take advantage of language strength to translate the professional literatures of scientific disciplines in order to strengthen the communication between China and the world’s science and technology.Firstly, the author introduces the characteristics and selected reasons of the text. The biggest difficulties in the translation process, namely translation of terminology, passive voice, long and complex sentences, are pointed out in the paper in accordance with the characteristics of the text and the actual translation process. Then the author summarizes the basic method of "literal translation first with the secondary reliance of free translation", with the guidance of Katharine Reiss’"typology theory". And the author also clearly points out the translation principles of "faithfulness", "expressiveness"and "accuracy and unification of terminology". The author tries to present accurate and smooth translation and reproduces the "style" of the original.
